The 250th anniversary of America’s independence was supposed to be a proud and happy time when we celebrated what makes our country great and looked forward to a better future.
Instead, we got a tired, slurring, and rambling old man who used his speech to attack half the country and then changed the Declaration of Independence — which he clearly didn’t understand — to fit his plan of racism and oppression.
He said, “And as our Declaration of Independence tells us, we are all made in the image of one almighty god.
And a communist will never say that!” said a tired and low-energy Trump.
That’s not what the Declaration of Independence says at all.
What it actually says is, “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”
It’s no wonder Trump doesn’t like what the Declaration really says, since his government has been working hard to take away our basic rights and sees everyone who isn’t white as less important.
But to hear him change those important words on purpose to push his Christian nationalist and white supremacy ideas is really shocking and terrible to watch.
