Donald Trump’s version of what he did on 9/11 is not just a big lie — it’s an outrageous one.His story has changed so many times it’s almost like a strange kind of performance. Now, his own nephew is publicly checking the facts of his latest, almost unbelievable, story about being a hero.
Trump’s tale has changed a lot over the years.
At first, he said he sent a group of construction workers to help at Ground Zero.By 2016, he was telling people that firefighters pulled him out of a wobbly U.S.Steel Building.By 2021, he added a dramatic twist — he said he was lifted off the ground and carried to safety by two firefighters. This week, he repeated the story again on Fox News and at a White House event, describing the building as “really creaking” and the firefighters as heroes who saved him.
Fred Trump III, the president’s nephew and the author of a book about his family, disagreed.
He wrote on X that Trump’s claim about sending construction workers to Ground Zero was so offensive that he felt the need to speak up.”He was not” building a building in New York when the towers were hit, he said.
Fred also pointed out that the only workers Trump could have sent were secretaries and accountants from Trump Tower — people he knew personally and didn’t think were physically able to help in a disaster.
“If they could, I’m sure they would try,” he wrote.
The claim that he was physically rescued doesn’t hold up either.
Fred mentioned that a close friend’s grandfather was one of the original engineers who built the U.S.Steel Building. An engineer called to check it after the attacks found it to be structurally sound and safe for use — “not creaking and ready to fall.” Also, Trump was actually at Trump Tower, which is two and a half miles away from Ground Zero and the Steel Building, during the attacks.
The White House gave no real proof to support Trump’s story, instead blaming “failing legacy media” for checking the facts using his own family member’s testimony.
Not accepting the truth is more likely. When your own nephew is the one correcting your made-up hero story about a major national tragedy, that’s not media bias. That’s just the truth catching up.
It’s a good thing Trump plans to skip Friday’s 25th anniversary memorial at Ground Zero.
There will probably be some unhappy New York City firefighters there who could challenge his false story face-to-face.

Always lies.
