According to sources, Donald Trump is getting ready to use his speech during Saturday night’s dinner to criticize the news outlets he doesn’t like, especially those that have pointed out his bad decisions in the war with Iran and uncovered his many scandals.
But here’s the sad part: Trump plans to make his accusations and then quickly leave the room so he doesn’t have to sit through the rest of the event, including the presentation of awards that might make him look bad, like the Wall Street Journal getting a big honor for reporting on the Epstein birthday card story.
He’s also skipping the entertainment part completely to avoid the chance of being teased or mocked.
This is typical of Trump: he likes to throw insults but can’t take any criticism, even if it’s mild.
The man who often calls the press “the enemy of the people” can’t stand to be in the same room when it’s their turn to be honored.
Meanwhile, his team is even thinking about making a big announcement about Iran right after the dinner to make the press corps’ night worse.
The roast has been blamed for Trump’s absence from the dinner during his first term and last year, and even for his decision to quit his TV career and run for president.
Back in 2011, then-President Obama made a joke about Trump by saying he put the “birther issue” to rest so he could focus on more important things like whether we faked the moon landing, what happened at Roswell, and where Biggie and Tupac are.
