The strange story of the missing Kentucky Senator got another weird turn tonight when a CNN host asked Scott Jennings, who used to work for Mitch McConnell but now acts against him on CNN, to get McConnell on the phone live during the show.
After Jennings told his real and true conversation with McConnell this morning, Hunt asked, “Do you think he’d be willing to call in?
Can we get him on the phone now?”
Jennings responded with nervous laughter.
“I wasn’t really expecting him to call this morning, to be honest.
I mean, as I said, I’ve known him since I was a teenager. If it hadn’t been for Mitch McConnell and the McConnell Center at the University of Louisville, I would never have been able to go to college.”
“He’s been my mentor, and he changed the direction of my life… So when I heard his voice today, he was clearly staying up to date on things that made me happy to hear from him, because like everyone else, I’ve been somewhat in the dark about it.
But to hear him talking and to know that he’s also talking to the Senate leadership, it made me pretty happy.”
Hunt didn’t push further, even though she really should have.
That wasn’t an answer, Scott! That was just a bunch of distracting, irrelevant nonsense!
