CNN’s Kaitlan Collins just took down one of Donald Trump’s main supporters in real time after he repeated the White House’s false claim about strict height and weight rules for service members attending Trump’s UFC event at the White House. When Collins asked Scott Jennings if there should be limits on which troops can go to next month’s UFC Freedom 250 event, Jennings confidently said it was all fake.
“I asked the White House directly if this is true, and I was told, quote, ‘Fake news from The Washington Post,’” Jennings smugly replied to Collins.
Collins quickly countered him by reading from a Pentagon memo that shows the rules are real: service members must “MEET CURRENT WAIST-HEIGHT RATIO and current physical fitness standard,” and they also have to pay for their own travel and show up in uniform.
Jennings was caught off guard, trying to defend himself by saying, “well, the military has standards,” and calling the event “awesome,” while awkwardly comparing Trump to Teddy Roosevelt for hosting fights at the White House.
In another note about weight and deception, Trump’s own doctor just advised him to lose weight after he reached 238 pounds, which is 14 pounds more than last year, making him officially overweight.
Trump has turned the White House lawn into a personal UFC fighting venue, reserving 1,200 tickets for troops who pass his fitness test and 4,000 for celebrities and chosen MAGA supporters. Even Joe Rogan, who supports Trump, called the outdoor event “odd” and “kind of a gimmick.” We predict that some wealthy sycophant will end up paying people to fill the seats.
