Donald Trump was reportedly taken out of a Turkish airport in a food cart after there was a possible threat of assassination from Iran, according to a top US official who spoke to the New York Times.
A video shows the moment Trump allegedly hid in an airport catering cart and was moved to a military plane for a secret departure from Turkey after intelligence about a possible assassination threat from Iran, according to a senior US official.
The president was leaving the NATO summit in Turkey on July 8, after arriving on a 747-8 plane provided by Qatar.
Questions came up when Trump chose a less fancy plane for his return to the US.
At that time, he said he would use an older plane to go back, “for old times’ sake.” The Qatari plane was said to have left for a US military base in the UK, but Trump was not on it.
This happened after Trump was accused of using White House officials and reporters as ‘decoys’ during the threat.

However, the senior official told the New York Times that Trump didn’t actually finish his trip on the older aircraft.
Instead, it was explained that Trump was moved via a food cart that had been modified to fit under the plane, to a third aircraft, which he used secretly to reach the UK.
Footage shows the moment an airport catering truck approached the older Air Force One.
The truck, said to be carrying the president, was then seen leaving the aircraft as members of the press climbed onto the jet, apparently unaware that the president had already left.
This covert move was first reported by the Washington Post, though a White House spokesperson did not comment when asked.
Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, had previously suggested that there was a threat to the president as he left Turkey.
“As the president has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal—including distraction and misdirection—to address those threats,” Cheung said at the time.
The White House’s decision to mislead journalists about Trump’s exit suggests they believed the Iranian threat was real.
That same week, Israel shared intelligence with the US, warning officials of a new Iranian plan to assassinate Donald Trump.
At that time, the extremely fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran had started to break down, with both countries resuming attacks.
Trump has openly said he is a primary target for Iran but warned there would be consequences if they tried anything.
A few days after his return from the NATO summit, he told reporters that he was “number one on the kill list for Iran.”
“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
