Donald Trump is once again turning international diplomacy into his own personal social media show.
Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social showing himself arriving at Lake Ontario, ripping down a “Welcome to Lake Ontario” sign and replacing it with one that reads “Lake America.”
Then, because apparently changing the name of one of the Great Lakes wasn’t enough for the video, AI Trump breaks into his familiar YMCA dance.
The clip comes after Trump signed an executive order changing the lake’s name to “Lake America” in U.S. federal records, adding yet another bizarre chapter to his escalating trade fight with Canada.
Canada, unsurprisingly, isn’t playing along.
Ontario’s premier responded with a message of his own, putting up a shoreline sign making the province’s position perfectly clear: it will remain Lake Ontario, “now and always.”
So now we have the President of the United States using AI videos to pretend he’s physically replacing Canadian landmarks while dancing to YMCA, and Canadian officials responding with actual signs reminding him that he can’t simply rename things because he feels like it.
It would almost be funny if this weren’t happening in the middle of a serious dispute between two longtime allies.
Trump has always loved putting his name on things, changing names, creating spectacles and turning political disputes into personal battles. Now apparently entire bodies of water are fair game.
And of course he had to post a video of himself dancing afterward.
Because nothing says serious international leadership quite like an AI-generated president changing a Great Lakes sign and celebrating with YMCA.
