Senator Jon Ossoff criticized Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth and President Donald Trump during a fiery speech this weekend, accusing them of misleading the nation into a disastrous war that we can’t escape.
“Maybe you saw Pete Hegseth before the Senate refusing to admit his false claims about the war in Iran,” Ossoff started.
“There’s something especially cruel about lying to a whole country into war.
It’s treating people like they’re not smart and using brave soldiers as tools,” Ossoff said angrily.
“Earlier this year, they told us there was an urgent nuclear threat after last year they said they had destroyed that threat.
Both times, it was lies.”
“On day 12 of the war, the president declared we had won.
On day 14, Secretary Hegseth claimed Iran’s military was gone. But five months later, we’re still fighting, Americans are still dying, Iran still has its uranium, and the Strait of Hormuz is still closed.”
“Can anyone defend this?
A war built on lies, pushed by a White House that has no one with integrity to stop this president from his crazy ideas.”
BOOM.
It’s impossible to justify what Trump and his foolish allies have done to Iran.
Every American expert and general agreed that attacking Iran was a terrible idea, but Trump and Hegseth ignored them and went ahead anyway.
They immediately and on purpose targeted a school with children, killing hundreds of innocent people, committed many war crimes against innocent Iranian families in their homes, killed Americans, wasted billions of dollars, and achieved nothing.
We’re in a worse position than we were before the war even started!
Their actions are uniquely terrible — and after we send Jon Ossoff back to the Senate and turn it blue, we need to start holding Trump, Hegseth, and everyone else involved accountable for their crimes.
