A former Trump supporter from Hawaii just made a brutally honest confession on C-SPAN that a lot of Americans are probably going to relate to.
The caller, Thomas, said he voted for Donald Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024 — but now deeply regrets it.
“It’s hard for me to say this,” Thomas admitted. “I wanted to believe Trump was the real deal for a long time. But now I regret my support for him and I should’ve known better.”
Then he unloaded.
“He’s a con man. A liar who doesn’t keep his promises. He’s in office all for himself and he doesn’t even try to hide his corruption anymore. He’s the worst president we’ve ever had and he’s the most corrupt president we’ve ever had.”
Thomas explained that his shift didn’t happen overnight. He described it as a slow realization after years of watching broken promises pile up while the corruption became more blatant and impossible to ignore.
He said Trump repeatedly promised immediate fixes for the economy and everyday Americans, but instead delivered chaos, division, and endless scandals.
What really stood out was how personal the moment felt.
Thomas openly talked about how difficult it was to admit he had been wrong after supporting Trump for nearly a decade. He even compared the grip Trump has on parts of his base to a kind of mass brainwashing, saying he never imagined he would witness something like it in America during his lifetime.
And by the end of the call, he had a clear message for voters heading into the next elections:
“The only weapon is to vote for as many Democrats whether you like them or not… We just need some balance back into our system of checks and balances.”
Moments like this matter because they show cracks continuing to form inside Trump’s coalition.
When longtime supporters who voted for him three separate times start publicly saying “I regret it” and calling him corrupt, it becomes harder and harder to dismiss the growing frustration surrounding his presidency.
And regardless of politics, it genuinely does take courage for someone to publicly admit they were wrong — especially after defending someone for years.
More Americans are starting to reach that point.
