Marjorie Taylor Greene has started a new political group with several former Trump supporters who disagree with him about the war in Iran.Greene shared a picture on X showing herself with media figure Tucker Carlson, Rep.Thomas Massie, and Joe Kent, who was once in charge of counterterrorism.Conservative writer Brian Glenn is also in the photo.Greene married Glenn in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The Independent notes that President Donald Trump has criticized some people in this group.
He called Greene a “traitor” because she opposed the war in Iran.Greene says the group’s goal is “America First for all Americans,” meaning everyone, whether they lean left, right, or center.
In her post, Greene explained why they formed the group.
“We said no more foreign wars and we meant it.We supported Donald Trump because he made that promise,” she wrote.”But he betrayed us all.Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center,” she continued.
She added, “The movement has begun.” Greene left Congress in January.
Before this announcement, she had talked about possibly creating a new political party because she was unhappy with the Republican Party.Reports were already saying there were problems within Trump’s MAGA base.
On June 30, she told Piers Morgan, “I think there’s a group of us that if we decide to align, we could launch a true America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats or Republicans, but could bring together some serious players from the right and the left.”
Carlson, a former Fox News host who now runs a podcast, said something similar in July.
He told The Columbia Journalism Review, “There’s going to be a third party, and I’m going to do everything I can to bring that about.”

Greene, Massie, Kent, and Carlson all disagreed with Trump about the war in Iran, which started in February.
Kent, who was Trump’s counterterrorism chief, left his job in March due to his opposition to the conflict.
In a letter on X explaining his resignation, Kent wrote, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.
Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”
Beyond the war in Iran, Greene and Massie also left Trump over how the government handled the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Both voted to force the Department of Justice to release all its records on Epstein.This issue had already caused Greene to break with Trump.She said she would quit Congress rather than face a tough primary battle.Massie also left Trump over the Epstein files and lost his primary race in May to Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL backed by Trump.Massie’s term in Congress ends in January.
