In a live call today, Donald Trump casually said that Vice President JD Vance would not be joining the next set of important talks with Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan tomorrow night because of unclear “security concerns.”
A few hours later, the White House had to step in and say that Vance will be there after all.
This is typical of Trump, who really enjoys putting his team members at odds with each other.
While Vance was handling the heat from the last failed talks, Trump was privately asking his advisors how Vance compares to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Stay tuned for next week!
This all feels very familiar, doesn’t it?
With the result of a major military conflict that has huge global consequences on the line, he’s acting like his top officials are contestants on The Apprentice. This isn’t serious foreign policy — this is Trump acting out in the unrealistic world of his TV show.
Clearly, nothing makes Trump the selfish, self-centered person happier than making his own team fight for his approval while he controls everything.
He really enjoys watching people get uncomfortable.
This is the messy, broken mess MAGA calls great leadership — publicly leaving out your vice president one moment, then pretending it never happened the next, all while real negotiations that could impact gas prices and American lives are still going on.
