Donald Trump just crossed another line — this time by posting an AI-generated video depicting violence against Stephen Colbert only hours after the longtime Late Show host aired his emotional farewell episode.
The video, which Trump shared Friday night on Truth Social and later reposted on X, showed a fake version of Colbert welcoming viewers back from a commercial break before an AI-generated Trump suddenly attacks him and throws him into a dumpster.
The clip then ends with the fake Trump awkwardly dancing over the scene.
As disturbing as the post itself was, what happened next raised even more alarm: the official White House X account reposted the same video with the caption, “Bye-bye 👋.”
Yes — the official account of the White House amplified an AI-generated video portraying violence against a television host who has spent years criticizing Donald Trump.
The timing made the post even more striking.
Just one night earlier, Colbert closed out his final Late Show broadcast with an emotional sendoff alongside music legend Paul McCartney, ending the show by turning out the lights inside the historic Ed Sullivan Theater.
CBS originally announced the show’s cancellation last year shortly after Colbert delivered particularly sharp criticism of both Trump and the network itself, fueling speculation and backlash among viewers who believed political pressure may have played a role.
Trump, meanwhile, has openly celebrated Colbert’s departure for months.
Following Thursday’s finale, he launched into another late-night rant attacking the comedian personally.
“Colbert is finally finished at CBS,” Trump wrote. “Amazing that he lasted so long! No talent, no ratings, no life.”
He continued by calling Colbert “a total jerk” and declaring, “Thank goodness he’s finally gone!”
But even that wasn’t enough.
Earlier Friday morning, Trump posted another message celebrating what he described as the “Beginning of the End” for late-night television hosts critical of him.
“Others, of even less talent, to soon follow,” Trump wrote. “May they all Rest in Peace!”
Now critics are pointing to the AI video as yet another escalation in Trump’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric toward media figures, comedians, journalists, and political opponents.
The fact that the White House itself helped distribute the video has only intensified the backlash.
For many observers, the issue goes far beyond Stephen Colbert.
A sitting president sharing violent AI-generated fantasies targeting critics — and having them amplified by official government channels — represents something profoundly disturbing about the current political climate.
The line between trolling, intimidation, propaganda, and presidential behavior continues to disappear in real time.
