After the violent and cruel killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican national who has lived in the U.S.for 35 years and helped send several children to college, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has promised to take strong action against Trump and his violent supporters.
” Our goal is to go beyond just sending diplomatic messages and the actions we’ve already taken with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, because we can’t let our Mexican citizens in the U.S.
be treated this way,” President Claudia Sheinbaum said to reporters on Wednesday.
“Unfortunately, another Mexican citizen has died in the U.S.
while in custody, just because they didn’t have the right papers, even though they were working for an American company.”
“So we are getting ready to take more actions.”
The options Mexico has are three:
1) Submit an official complaint to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights about the violation of the right to life and fair legal process.
2) Mexico can support or directly take part in a legal case against ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, something they have done before.
3) The Mexican government can ask UN human rights groups to look into and condemn the increasing use of deadly force during immigration raids in the U.S.
Pressure needs to be put on Trump and his violent, cruel supporters from all sides to make ICE pay for their actions.
Too many people have already died, and it’s clear they are willing to kill anyone—men, women, Americans, or immigrants—whether innocent or not.
All their victims have been innocent. We need justice!
