Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal, the main person behind a terrible genocide against the Palestinian people. He is responsible for the deaths of over 73,000 people, the mayor said in an official video posted on X.
This kind of clear statement, admitting the truth, was unthinkable just a few years ago.
But now, after seeing the huge number of deaths in Gaza, much of the Democratic Party is starting to agree with what the rest of the world has been saying for a long time.Israel is carrying out a genocide and Netanyahu is the leader behind it.
“For the hurting of tens of thousands of children, as those who survive are made to lose limbs without any pain medication,” continued Mamdani.
“For the targeting of hospitals for newborns and maternity centers, making it almost impossible for babies to even live.”
“For the many people he left without food as he stopped food supplies and hundreds of aid workers and journalists.
And just last month, the UN confirmed that Palestinian children are still being intentionally shot and killed by Israeli soldiers, more than eight months after the so-called ceasefire.”
“The list continues.
All while we, as Americans, pay for the bombs that do the killing,” said Mamdani.”There is a reason the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest.”
“As human beings, we have spent generations building a shared understanding that there are crimes so serious they go against all of humanity,” he continued.
“Anyone, with their eyes, with their heart, with their conscience, should recognize the damage he has done and understand that he belongs in a court of law.As I’ve said, I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and tried for his crimes, as I do for anyone else charged by the ICC.”
“My administration has looked at every possible way, under the law, to see if New York City could carry out the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here,” the mayor said.
“It is clear that we do not have the independent legal power to enforce this warrant. The federal government, however, does, and I call on them to join the ICC and carry out this warrant.”
This is an important point.
In recent days, Mamdani’s talk about possibly arresting Netanyahu has caused a lot of anger from a small group of very strong supporters of Israel.Trump himself rushed to Truth Social to say it would not happen. These people don’t just want Israel to get weapons to carry out their genocide and take over the region; they also want the rest of us to treat their leaders like kings instead of criminals.
If Mayor Mamdani had the power to do so, he would arrest Netanyahu.
But this kind of big, international action can only be ordered by the White House.Unlike Trump, Mamdani respects the rule of law.
By asking the federal government to act, the mayor is putting the responsibility directly on Trump.
Of course, this President would never consider holding Netanyahu responsible for his actions. They’re all like him (and there’s also the possibility that Mossad has blackmail on Trump from his time with Epstein).
What Mamdani’s call for action really does is tie Trump closely to the Netanyahu government.
When he finally refuses to arrest this man, he’ll be sending a strong message to the American people that he fully supports the unpopular government in Tel Aviv.Israel First is the slogan of this administration. With the midterms coming up soon, that’s a recipe for a big loss for MAGA.
“And I want to be equally clear, Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City, nor is any other war criminal at large,” Mamdani added.
“While we cannot end the genocide on our own, we can decide whether our silence will become another weapon, and we can examine every tool we have to defend the humanity and dignity of all people. That is my commitment to you.”
