A man from Providence, R.I., named Tim Pettit bought a pink “Trump” watch for his wife, who loves MAGA, but he ended up receiving a “Rump” watch instead. He spent $640 to show his support for the president and his affection for his wife, thinking he was getting a unique item, as reported by NBC 6 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania earlier this month.
Pettit’s wife pointed out, “The ‘T’ is missing.
It just says ‘R-U-M-P.’ It says Rump.”
Pettit expressed his disappointment, saying, “We expected that it would have the integrity of the president of the United States.”
According to the report, the GetTrumpWatches.com website claims its watches are the official timepieces of President Trump.
However, in the fine print, it mentions that it has licensed the Trump name and image. The site also states it does not involve any political campaign and that the watches are not created, made, distributed, or sold by Donald J. Trump, the Trump Organization, or their associated partners.
In October, Newsmax started running ads for the watches featuring Trump himself.
“Hello, everyone, it’s President Donald J. Trump, and it’s Trump time,” he began in one of the videos.
“Check out this ‘Red Beauty,’ it’s one of my new watches. Wear it proudly on your wrist, and everyone will know exactly what it’s for, who it’s for, who it represents. It’s really going to be something special, it’s for your favorite president. Get your watch today at GetTrumpWatches.com. These make a great gift. It’s Trump time.”
Recently, Trump has also faced criticism over the $500 gold Trump mobile smartphones that were finally delivered to customers months after they were promised.
The Pensacola News Journal reported that the phone received backlash after Trump Mobile missed its initial launch by nine months, redesigned the phone several times after taking a $100 deposit for pre-orders, and retracted its original statement that the phone would be made in the United States.
The box for the phone now states it’s “proudly assembled in the USA.”
