Vice President JD Vance went to Michigan to help his political campaign against Abdul El-Sayed, who used to work in public health and is now running for the Senate as a Democrat.But El-Sayed had his own idea.
At a campaign event on Monday, El-Sayed used a press conference to respond to his opponent, former Rep.
Mike Rogers, who had invited Vance to join his campaign.This led to some quiet laughter from behind El-Sayed and a big reaction on social media.
El-Sayed said, “Why would you invite JD Vance, except maybe you’ve got a Vance Bromance?” He continued, “I don’t know, there are a lot of questions about JD Vance.
We don’t have more couches here than they have in Ohio.So I’m just trying to figure out why he would come.”
The “couch comment” refers to a false and widely shared online rumor during the 2024 election that claimed Vance had done intimate things with a couch.
This became a common joke used by Democrats to mock Vance.The comment immediately caused a strong reaction on the internet.
