Now THIS is how you respond to Donald Trump trying to rename your country’s famous landmarks.
Veteran Canadian rock band Blue Rodeo played a sold-out show Saturday night at Toronto’s RBC Amphitheatre, a 16,000-seat venue right next to the lake that Trump has decided to call “Lake America.”
Blue Rodeo just so happens to have a popular 1993 song called “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet,” which mentions Lake Ontario by name.
Before performing the song, singer Greg Keelor pointed toward the lake behind the stage.
“At the end of this song, there’s a mention of a lake.
It’s right behind us right there,” Keelor told the crowd.He mentioned that the lake’s name had “become a little controversial,” and asked the audience to sing it “with full authority and ownership.”
They did exactly that.
When the lyric came up, thousands of Canadians shouted “LAKE ONTARIO” with huge enthusiasm, followed by a big cheer.On the big screens behind the band, a map showed the body of water clearly labeled as LAKE ONTARIO.
“That was some good singing, folks,” Keelor said afterward.
“You’re good Canadians.God bless you.We love you for it.”
Then bandmate Jim Cuddy took a more direct approach.
“That was chilling, folks.
We are who we are, right?F*ck ‘em.”
