On Friday, Jamie Raskin, the top leader of the House Judiciary Committee and a Democrat from Maryland, officially asked the White House doctor to test President Donald Trump’s brain health. He did this because of some recent public comments from Trump that he described as confusing, unpredictable, rude, crazy, and dangerous. Raskin said these comments show serious worries about Trump’s mental abilities.
In a letter shared by a well-known reporter named Scott MacFarlane on X, Raskin asked the President’s doctor, Captain Sean P. Barbabella, to do a full brain and mental health check on Trump.
He also asked that the results be shared with Congress.
Raskin wrote that experts have often said Trump shows signs of memory problems and a decline in brain function.
He added that in recent days, Trump’s public comments and outbursts have gotten worse and more alarming, causing concern across the country, including from people with different political views.
Raskin specifically mentioned Trump’s recent messages on Truth Social, a platform he uses, and his remarks during the White House Easter Egg Roll.
He said these actions have worried many people about Trump’s ability to think clearly and stay fit for his job.

He highlighted a post Trump made on Truth Social saying: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran.
There will be nothing like it!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!” He also mentioned Trump’s appearance at the Easter Egg Roll, where he talked about the Iran conflict in front of children and suggested that kids might one day sell his autographs for a lot of money.
Raskin also pointed to another post where Trump said, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
He called the situation “not normal politics” and asked for a full public report on Trump’s health and a meeting with Congress to review the findings by April 24.
Later the same day, a White House spokesperson responded, calling Raskin a “lightweight” and saying he’s “a stupid person’s idea of a smart person.”
The spokesperson claimed that Trump’s sharp thinking, strength, and approachability are much better than what was seen during the past four years, when Democrats like Raskin, they said, intentionally hid the real health issues of the previous president, Joe Biden, from the public.
