Experts have kept saying that the President is showing signs of dementia and is losing his mental sharpness. Recently, the country has seen President Trump’s public words and actions getting more confusing, angry, rude, crazy, and scary, according to Raskin’s letter to Sean Barbabella, who is the Navy captain and Trump’s doctor.
On Easter, Trump made a rant full of bad language, threatening Iran with a nuclear attack and saying an entire civilization would die if his demands weren’t met.
Then, just the day before, he shared a video of a woman being brutally killed along with a rant about “illegal criminal aliens.” It seems like whatever control he once had has gone away as his mental decline has sped up.
Raskin wrote, “This is clearly outside the normal world of politics.
When the President of the United States threatens to end a whole civilization on social media, rants about military actions during the Easter Egg Roll, and shouts rude things on Easter morning, we have clearly stepped into a serious medical problem.”
Raskin is right to say it so clearly.
The longer Trump’s weakening mind is ignored, the more danger the country—and the world—faces.
“He is making people very worried across the whole nation (and all political sides) about the President’s mental abilities and whether he’s still fit to be President.
People are also worried about his health,” Raskin wrote.
“At a time when the country is at war—especially when the war started without approval from Congress—the American people need to know the Commander-in-Chief can handle the important duties of his job with a clear mind,” he added.
The letter ended with Raskin clearly stating what he wants.
With a deadline of 5 PM on April 24th, Raskin asked Barbabella:
“1.Do a full mental and brain test of the President, use a proper screening tool, and make the results public.
2.Give a detailed report on the President’s mental and physical health, including any drugs he’s taking and how they might affect his thinking.
3.Be ready to talk, under oath, with members of the Committee about the test results. I hope you will act quickly on this important and urgent request.”
