Jimmy Kimmel gave Attorney General Pam Bondi a new nickname on Thursday, calling her “Scam-ala Anderson” and said she might end up in jail. This came after Democratic lawmakers from the House Oversight Committee walked out of a briefing with Bondi about Jeffrey Epstein’s files. They did this because she was asked to give sworn testimony, and they didn’t like the subpoena for that.
Democrats left the meeting during a private briefing with Bondi on Wednesday, saying she wouldn’t promise to follow the congressional subpoena about how the Justice Department handled Epstein’s records.
Bondi, who was there with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, later told reporters she made it clear she would follow the law. Republicans on the committee, however, said she had said she would comply. The committee had voted 24–19 earlier this month to issue the subpoena, with five Republicans joining the Democrats.
In his opening monologue on Thursday night, Kimmel joked that Bondi “has a lot of questions to answer” and said she “tried to pull a fast one on the House Oversight Committee.”
He said Bondi didn’t commit to sitting for a real deposition, which is required by the subpoena. Democrats left the meeting in protest, saying they didn’t think there was a point in asking questions unless she was under oath. Kimmel said, “And that’s when our sweet little Scam-ala Anderson did some of her finest acting yet.”
He played a clip of Bondi talking to reporters, where she was upset with Democratic lawmakers who said the briefing couldn’t be televised by networks like C-SPAN.
Kimmel added, “And then she got in her car and ran over a kitten,” as a joke.
He then criticized the committee chairman, James “Jim Bob” Comer, saying he was disappointed but not at Bondi.
He said Comer was mad at the “radical, law-abiding libs” on his committee. Kimmel played a clip of Comer calling the Democratic lawmakers’ behavior “very disappointing” and saying he thought they “cared about getting the truth.”
Kimmel responded, “Aww, you know what?
They disappointed Gomer Pyle. That’s not nice. What a joke this is. Jim Comer is the same person who spent two full years investigating Hunter Biden’s d*ck pics but why swear in a woman who still won’t release millions of files and is given no good explanation why Trump’s name was blacked out of just about everything?”
He went back to Bondi again, saying, “According to the subpoena, though, Bondi must appear under oath by April 14.
But if she doesn’t show up, their options are very limited, they can hold her in contempt, but that has to be prosecuted by the Department of Justice, which she runs.”
“And I don’t see her holding herself in contempt,” he added.
“I want the truth. I can’t handle the truth.”
In conclusion, he said, “The end of this, you watch, Pam Bondi goes to jail, Trump doesn’t.
Nothing happens to him.”
