Donald Trump spent part of Saturday posting a series of memes on Truth Social mocking Iran’s military capabilities while also taking indirect shots at former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama.
The posts focused heavily on Iran’s drone program, with Trump sharing images portraying Iranian drones as ineffective against the U.S. military.

One meme showed a large blue butterfly falling into the ocean next to a crashing drone, with the caption suggesting Iranian drones were “dropping like butterflies.” Another image appeared to show a U.S. warship shooting multiple drones out of the sky in dramatic fashion, accompanied by the caption: “Bye Bye, Drones.”

Trump followed that with another meme depicting a fleet of Iranian ships at sea on one side of the image and the same vessels destroyed and underwater on the other.

The posts came days after U.S. naval forces reportedly intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting ships being escorted through the Strait of Hormuz. The operations were tied to what Trump has described as “Project Freedom,” an effort aimed at protecting commercial and military vessels moving through the strategically critical waterway.
Meanwhile, Marco Rubio was questioned Friday about the increasingly fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran after renewed exchanges of fire.
Asked whether the ceasefire was effectively collapsing, Rubio argued that Iran had failed to uphold its side of the agreement.
“What you saw yesterday was U.S. destroyers moving through international waters being fired upon,” Rubio said, defending the military response as necessary self-defense.
He added that American forces had no choice but to intercept incoming missiles and drones, arguing that failing to respond would put U.S. ships and personnel at serious risk.
The online posts from Trump reflect how aggressively he has leaned into the conflict publicly—often framing military developments through social media messaging aimed at projecting strength and dominance.
At the same time, critics argue that the tone of the posts risks trivializing a dangerous and escalating international crisis.
