Donald Trump got really angry – really, really angry – at Fox News host Shannon Bream on Sunday. He took to his Truth Social platform to rant for a long time after her show did something he didn’t like: asking his attorney general a hard question.
Bream had interviewed Attorney General Todd Blanche about a federal court decision that stopped construction of Trump’s big White House ballroom without Congress’s approval.
She asked a simple question: “Why not just go to Congress?”
Blanche said the administration believed it already had the authority and didn’t agree with the judges.
The administration has now asked the Supreme Court to take over.
Then Trump took his turn.
He started by calling watching Fox News with Bream like watching “the Worst of Fake News CNN,” saying she picks guests, charts, and polls that are “negative” and doesn’t celebrate his achievements.
What came next was a long, crazy list of self-praise about the stock market, the border, Iran, Venezuela, crime, drug prices, jobs, the military, and the Space Force.
But Trump kept coming back to Bream and her “unforgivable” habit of talking to people he doesn’t like.
He said she features “hostile guests,” attacked Juan Williams as a “loser” who “got fired like a dog from PBS,” and called Fox’s Jessica Tarlov “even dumber than [Williams].”
Trump called Bream’s show “beyond redemption” and said her ratings would drop because MAGA viewers would stop watching her.
He said Chris Wallace was bad, but Shannon is “even worse!”
In the end, Trump promised readers that Bream didn’t bother him too much before saying he was “heading back into the Oval Office to continue working on more TRIUMPHS and SUCCESSES for our Country!”
LOL.
Except that this is the most powerful person in the world.
Bream didn’t insult Trump.
She didn’t support a Democrat or give a negative talk. She just asked the attorney general of the United States why the administration didn’t go to Congress after a federal appeals court said Congress’s approval was needed for the ballroom work to continue.
That was apparently enough to make a longtime Fox News anchor – who has supported Trump many times – an enemy.
After years of asking Republicans, government officials, and conservative media to be loyal, Trump now seems to treat even simple questioning as betrayal.
The acceptable answer isn’t just agreeing with his policies. It’s giving him applause.
And when even Fox News asks an inconvenient question, Trump uses the same tactics he uses against everyone else: intimidation, insults, and the threat that his followers will punish the person who asked the question.
