Well, it seems like it was bound to happen that a joke about Trump dying would start a big news story. In this case, the President, First Lady, and White House Press Secretary all wanted to censor and fire a comedian for making a joke that Melania was “glowing like an expectant widow.”
In his angry message, Donald Trump wrote, “Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny, as proven by his bad TV ratings, made a shocking statement on his show.”
He said, “He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, as if they were actually in his studio listening to him speak, which they weren’t and never would be.
Then he said, ‘Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.'”
A day later, a crazy person tried to enter the ballroom at the White House Correspondents Dinner with a shotgun, a handgun, and lots of knives.
He had a very clear and dangerous plan. I understand that many people are really upset about Kimmel’s call to violence, and normally I wouldn’t care about what he says, but this is way beyond what’s acceptable. Jimmy Kimmel should be fired by Disney and ABC right away. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
It’s clear that Kimmel wasn’t doing anything like that.
He was just joking about the President being 79 years old and having a diet like a stoned college kid.
But for Trump, it was the perfect chance to use a bad event to stop public criticism and silence people who disagree with him, showing off his authoritarian and repressive style.
