A person at the Republican midterm convention was allowed to stay even though they shouted terrible death threats during a speech by Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
At the same time, a protester who interrupted JD Vance’s speech by waving Mexican and Palestinian flags was quickly removed, and the crowd cheered loudly.
The Republican convention in Dallas has been full of dramatic political moments.
On Thursday, the speeches turned darker as Cruz attacked three Democratic candidates, describing them as part of the radical left.
He criticized Sharia law, a common Republican argument that claims Muslims will impose their beliefs on other Americans.
Cruz named New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, and Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, saying: “When Mamdani says he wants to ‘seize the means of production,’ he means it.
When Abdul El Sayed says he has an ‘obligation’ to comply with Sharia law, he means it.And when James Talarico says he wants to ‘dismantle capitalism,’ he means it.”
Every time Cruz mentioned a name, a man in the audience shouted the same threat: “He should be shot!”
The remarks were heard from the convention floor, but the person shouting was not removed.
The Daily Beast contacted the security team at the American Airlines Center; an officer said they had no information about anyone being thrown out.
The decision to let the heckler stay seems to show a double standard.
Donald Trump Jr.
gave a speech at the convention accusing the Left of encouraging political violence.
“We’ve reached a dangerous place in our culture where these extremists don’t just excuse political violence, they actually glorify it,” he said.
There was also a five-minute video tribute to the slain activist Charlie Kirk.
The response to Cruz’s heckler was very different from the treatment of the protester who interrupted JD Vance.
The protester waved Mexican and Palestinian flags, and then security officers removed him from the arena as the crowd booed and chanted.
Vance used the interruption to call the protester an “idiot” and suggested he return to Mexico.
“What the people at home missed is that we just had a protester interrupting us and waving the Mexican flag,” he said as the man was escorted out to the crowd cheering and chanting “USA!
USA!”
“Well, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your a– over there.
I’ll buy you the plane ticket,” Vance added.

The two incidents gave a clear picture of the atmosphere inside the first-ever Republican midterm convention—a two-day event in Dallas meant to boost excitement before the November 3 election.
With Trump facing very low approval ratings, fear and anger have been central themes of the convention, with speakers painting Democrats as radicals threatening American families, religion, capitalism, and national security.
Immigration and cultural issues have been the main topics.
Convention attendees, like Melissa Cole from Ohio, have also embraced these themes.
When asked how she thought the Republicans would do in the midterms, she told the Daily Beast: “It’s going to be fantastic.
It has to be fantastic—we’re in a war between good and evil.”
