Democratic leadership hit Trump hard on Thursday afternoon when House Republicans finally gave in and approved the Senate bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security. But here’s the catch—they didn’t include any new money for ICE or the Border Patrol.
Feeling embarrassed, they chose to pass the bill with a simple voice vote, so no one would know which Republicans supported it.
Now, if Trump wants the taxpayer money he’s asking for to fund his group of harmful people, House Republicans will have to approve a reconciliation package.
And that package has its own set of problems.
The House GOP group, which is often argumentative and focused on their own interests, is already getting upset about how the White House is focusing on immigration issues instead of other priorities.
This is a big win that sends a clear message to the American people: Democrats will fight for what’s right, and we will win.
This is just the start of breaking down Trump’s system of hatred, bigotry, and violence. Once we take back the House in the fall, we can end it for good.
