Pam Bondi’s actions as Trump’s Attorney General, before she was abruptly dismissed, are catching up with her. A strong group of over 120 judges, law professors, and lawyers—led by retired Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Peggy Quince—has submitted a serious ethics complaint against Bondi to the Florida Bar, urging that she be investigated and possibly disbarred. This is their second attempt; the first one was turned down while she was still in office. Now that Trump has let her go, the complaint is back and it’s quite damaging.
The complaint focuses on Bondi’s poor handling of the Jeffrey Epstein documents, claiming she mishandled the releases so severely that victims’ names, birth dates, and even nude photos were made public.
Lawyers representing the survivors called one release “the single most egregious violation of victim privacy in one day in United States history.”
Additionally, the complaint alleges that Bondi pressured Department of Justice lawyers to compromise their ethics or face job loss, and approved politically motivated prosecutions against Trump’s opponents.
“No one lawyer is above the law,” stated Chief Justice Quince.
For Bondi, her loyalty to Trump seemed to take precedence over integrity and basic professionalism.
Her time in office was marked by the misuse of power, cover-ups, and ethical shortcuts to satisfy her boss. The fact that more than 120 legal professionals, including a former chief justice, are calling for her disbarment speaks volumes about how she misused her authority.
Among the many issues during Trump’s second administration, the actions of ICE in major American cities have been particularly troubling, and Bondi was in charge of it all.
It’s clear that no one should be above the law. The rule of law is still important, no matter what Trump promises about protection. Let’s see how things unfold as the Trump administration seems to be falling apart before us.
We wish Pam Bondi the best in overcoming her health issues.
We also hope she is held accountable for her misconduct as Trump’s Attorney General.
