Kash Patel was supposed to be leading the FBI during a time when the country was in an active war with Iran and there were reported threats against the president’s life.Instead, he was on the tarmac at Andrews Air Force Base this morning, all set to fly the Bureau’s jet to Chicago for his girlfriend’s country music festival performance.
But before anyone could say “boondoggle,” Kash was called into the White House to be reprimanded for his lack of seriousness in his job.
It felt like a favorite student being called into the principal’s office. And honestly, it’s about time someone did.
Patel had arranged a “fake office visit” to the Chicago field office — conveniently timed with his girlfriend Alexis Wilkins’ performance at a country music festival — as a cover for what several FBI agents privately called an obvious joyride paid for by taxpayer money.
The cost was estimated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.
But that’s not the most shocking part.
Just hours before his flight, Patel tweeted about his “gold-plated jet ski” while criticizing MS NOW for reporting on his luxurious lifestyle.Yes — the FBI Director, in the middle of a war, openly boasting about a gold-plated jet ski while being investigated for misuse of taxpayer funds.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, who is a real Trump ally, has now officially asked for explanations about Patel’s use of the FBI jet and his purchase of luxury armored BMWs.
Congressional Democrats claim Patel has been asking for special perks on official trips, including jet ski excursions and helicopter tours. The FBI naturally denies these claims.
This isn’t the first time Patel has made the news for being embarrassing.
He previously used the director’s jet for a trip to Milan to watch Olympic hockey — with the total cost, including security and lodging, estimated at a million dollars — where he was caught on video drinking beer in the locker room.He has also used the jet to fly to Penn State to watch his girlfriend sing the national anthem. His behavior even led to a mocking cold open on Saturday Night Live, with actor/comedian Aziz Ansari playing the reckless FBI director.
