President Donald Trump asked congressional Republicans to “IMMEDIATELY” move forward with a new $350 billion reconciliation package. This plan would greatly boost military spending and also try to bring back election reforms.
In a long post on Truth Social on Wednesday night, the president called on GOP lawmakers to act fast on what he called “Recon 3.0.”
He said the proposal was a big investment in U.S. defense and security.
“I am calling on Republicans in Congress to IMMEDIATELY advance and pass the upcoming $350 Billion Reconciliation Bill (Recon 3.0) — which, at the request of our Great Department of War — will include THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as well,” Trump wrote.
“No messing around, no delays, and no weak deals!
Do this as soon as possible.”
Trump said the legislation would be the “ONLY” way to reach a $1.5 trillion military budget.
He listed plans to fund projects like the “Golden Dome” missile defense system, a “Golden Fleet” of naval ships, F-47 and B-21 aircraft programs, more ammunition production, and more investment in the Space Force and drone abilities.
“This is a GENERATIONAL investment in our military, even bigger than President Reagan’s!”
he wrote.
This proposal would be the third time Republicans are using the budget reconciliation process this Congress, after last year’s tax package and an immigration enforcement bill signed by Trump earlier that same day.
Trump also insisted the bill must include the SAVE America Act, which would require voters to show photo ID and proof of citizenship and limit mail-in voting.
He argued the bill “will protect our elections for generations to come.
Our warriors protect our most sacred rights, and voting is at the top. It’s time to defend that right for every American!”
The legislation has not gotten enough support in the Senate, but Trump still insisted it was necessary for both national defense and election security, ending his message with a direct request to lawmakers: “Pass ALL $350 BILLION and THE SAVE AMERICA ACT to secure the NATION for our children and grandchildren.
