A former insider from Donald Trump’s team has warned that the president’s most controversial actions might not be over yet. He warned about six serious situations that could happen during what he calls Trump’s “finale”.
Miles Taylor, who once worked for Trump in his first term and later turned against him, claims that his talks with past colleagues have led him to believe that the last years of Trump’s current term could be very different from anything seen before.
In an article for The i, Miles stated that even some Republicans who quietly criticize Trump know they can’t stop him.
He also said that those who were closest to Trump are worried that the US might be facing its biggest constitutional crisis in decades.
“Privately, my former colleagues on Capitol Hill admit they can’t compete with this President,” he wrote, according to the Mirror US.
Miles also explained that the opposition within the Republican Party is shrinking quickly, and Trump is now surrounded by people who depend on him for their political success.
He thinks this will make Trump even more powerful after the midterms this autumn.
Miles also said that Trump might not be certain when he will leave office.
“I put ‘finale’ in quotes because I believe Trump himself isn’t sure if he’ll leave office at the end of his next two years,” he wrote.
Based on his time inside the White House, Miles said he has seen Trump become more aggressive when he feels trapped.
“When Trump feels cornered, he tends to react strongly.
In the two-and-a-half years I worked under him in his first administration, I saw this happen again and again.”
He said that people from both the Trump administration and Capitol Hill are getting more worried about the state of the US Constitution by the time of the 2028 presidential election.
Miles also mentioned that Trump and his supporters called the warnings “ridiculous,” “fake” and “phony.” He added that 90 per cent of the predictions made a year and a half into Trump’s presidency have already come true, including the removal of civil servants, troops being sent into American cities, and labeling domestic critics as “terrorists.”
He said he wasn’t trying to scare people, but rather to be honest about what is coming.
He ended by saying that he expects Trump to avoid Congress, break laws, and ignore the constitutional duties of the body.
He also expects Trump to ignore the courts, even when they rule against him, and to use emergency powers, such as the Insurrection Act or the suspension of habeas corpus, under the guise of dealing with “domestic security” issues.
