On his show last night, the clever and outspoken late-night host, who is known for criticizing Trump, made fun of the First Lady for her sarcastic calls for “unity.” This is clearly just a way to shift focus back to her and the upcoming release of her made-up documentary about the 20 days before Trump was re-elected. We can assume the film includes hours of Trump sleepily eating burgers while Fox News plays in the background.
“Meanwhile, the first lady is not in a ‘Be-Best’ mood right now. According to the writer Michael Wolff, Melania is bigly upset that the murders in Minneapolis are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe… I mean, documentary that… that Amazon made for her,” joked Kimmel.
“Alex Pretti was killed on Saturday, the same day they had the VIP screening of the movie at the White House. Now, while she’s promoting her film, she has to answer questions about it. What is your message for America about unifying both sides? We need to unify.”
“Oh, good. Melania’s calling for unity. Either that or she’s ordering tea. It’s hard to tell, right? You need tea? Who need tea?” laughs Kimmel.
“All right, back to the movie.”
“Was that the first time you saw it, Saturday night?” asks the host. “Eet was de first time that he saw a whole film, and he loved it. Uh, he said, a must-watch,” says Melania.
Oh, for HIM, it is a must-watch. It’s not-not for us, but for him, yes,” riffs Kimmel.
“My guess is he saw the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket…It is not, however, getting a positive response for some of the people who worked on the film. According to Rolling Stone, two-thirds of the New York crew asked to have their names removed from the credits.”
“Two is a lot of thirds. Two is… maybe, almost half, possibly even more than half!” finishes Kimmel.
It’s really self-centered for the Trumps to believe people care about the three weeks Trump spent watching TV and ignoring his family, which led to a terrible time for everyone.
It’s also really bad for Amazon to spend tens of millions of dollars to make this so-called “privilege” of producing it. Now it’s up to the American people to make sure it’s a big failure and a big embarrassment.
