The Vice-President hit a new low in cowardice this afternoon when he tweeted, “Watching Tammy Duckworth obsessively interrupt Marco Rubio during this hearing is like watching Forest [sic] Gump argue with Isaac Newton.”
War hero Senator Tammy Duckworth was asking the Secretary of State about claims that the Trump administration had warned oil companies but not Congress about a plan to kidnap Nicolas Maduro and take control of Venezuela for its oil.
This upset the Vice-President, who compared her to an autistic character from the movie Forrest Gump — two R’s, Vance!
— as a clear but sneaky way to call her the right-wing’s new favorite insult: “retarded,” a term Trump has used against Democrats.
Senator Duckworth responded by pointing out how Vance and the entire Trump administration are putting American lives at risk so that Trump and his oil friends can profit:
“Forrest Gump ran toward danger in Vietnam.
Your boss ran to his podiatrist crying about bone spurs.”
“Small insults at the cost of people with disabilities won’t change the fact that you’re risking troops’ lives to help Chevron’s stock price.
It’s my job to hold you accountable.”
At least one person in that room is actually doing their job.
It’s really frustrating to watch our supposed leaders insult war heroes for standing up for the American people — and it’s embarrassing for Vance to not even have the courage to say it face-to-face, like a little kid trying to avoid trouble.
What a terrible person to say that to a woman who lost both her legs while serving her country.
