The Trump administration has a new diplomatic photo making the rounds, and this one looks like it could have wandered straight out of a very strange movie.
The image reportedly shows Callista Gingrich, Trump’s ambassador to Switzerland and wife of former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, welcoming Barbera Thornhill, the administration’s new ambassador-at-large tasked with combating human trafficking.
Thornhill was already attracting attention after her official State Department portrait went viral earlier this week. Now, the reported meeting with Gingrich has provided another unusual photo moment.
The whole thing has an almost surreal quality, with the sort of carefully staged diplomatic presentation that invites a second look.
