Donald Trump has found another target for his growing obsession with renaming things — and this time, it’s an entire American state.
Trump shared a bizarre video depicting himself standing beside a New Mexico welcome sign before the name is transformed into something completely different: “NEW AMERICA”.
And unlike some of Trump’s cryptic social media posts, there was little mystery about what he was suggesting.
“Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote cheating states of all time, to NEW AMERICA,” Trump wrote alongside the video.
“So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State. Wow, I Love It!!!”
Trump offered no evidence in the post for his sweeping “vote cheating” accusation against New Mexico.

The strange post follows Trump’s other recent efforts to put his own stamp on America’s map. His administration adopted “Gulf of America” for federal use in place of Gulf of Mexico, and Trump has more recently pushed “Lake America” for Lake Ontario.
But New Mexico is something else entirely.
It isn’t a body of water that Trump can simply tell federal agencies to call something different. It is one of the 50 states — and its name has a history stretching back centuries.
Still, that apparently didn’t stop Trump from imagining a new version of the map.
And while there’s no indication that New Mexico is actually about to become “New America,” Trump has once again managed to turn a bizarre social media post into a political spectacle.
Gulf of America. Lake America. And now… New America?
At this rate, Americans may want to keep an eye on whatever Trump decides to rename next.
