Next week, Donald Trump and the Republican Party are holding their first-ever “midterm convention” in a last-ditch effort to gain some positive momentum before the midterm elections, which are expected to be very favourable for the Democrats.
However, the First Lady has decided she would rather not attend, as reported by the Washington Examiner, and she won’t be present on either day of what is sure to be a controversial and divisive event.
She won’t be the only one staying away.
Forty-five other prominent Republican lawmakers have announced they will not be attending either.Some are upset about the $25,000 entry fee, while others simply don’t want to be linked with Donald Trump as they try to keep their positions.
Michigan Representative Tom Barrett explained his decision by saying, “I can’t control what the president is going to say at the convention, but I can control where I am and what I’m doing.”
The convention has already started off in a strange way, as a prank website called gopdallas2026.com has been created and redirects users to the Epstein files.
And just to add to the chaos, Trump has once again shown his usual ability to plan ahead by scheduling the convention during the first two games of the NFL season—Patriots vs.
Seahawks on Wednesday and Rams vs.Niners from Australia on Thursday.
