Donald Trump’s team is attacking some of the oldest, wildest, and most important nature areas in the U.S., all while pretending it’s about stopping wildfires.
The U.S.
Forest Service is trying to cancel the 2001 “roadless rule,” which was set up during the Clinton years. This rule protected nearly 45 million acres of national forests from roads, logging, mining, and drilling for 25 years.
That includes nine million acres of Alaska’s Tongass National Forest — the biggest temperate rainforest in the world — which Trump took away during his first term.
But Biden put those protections back in 2023.Now Trump is trying to take them away again, along with millions of acres from California to North Carolina.
These areas aren’t just pretty places.
They’re home to more than half of all endangered wildlife in the U.S., like grizzly bears, wolves, salmon, and wolverines. They also supply water for millions of people.Plus, they help soak up a lot of carbon, which is important in fighting climate change — something Trump’s team has been pushing to make worse.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says this is for wildfire prevention and forest health.
But fire experts don’t agree. Most wildfires are caused by people, and roads are a big reason — so more roads usually mean more fires, not fewer.
Alex Craven from the Sierra Club said, “Roads generally lead to more ignitions and result in more wildfires — not fewer.” Ecologist Alexandra Syphard said it even more directly: “The unintentional impact of this could actually be creating a worse situation.”
So what’s the real reason?
Logging.Trump wants to increase logging in national forests by 25% and told agencies to ignore protections for endangered species.Randi Spivak from the Center for Biological Diversity warned, “Once you start bulldozing roads for commercial logging and industrial development, there’s no getting them back.”
This is what environmental deregulation really looks like: it’s dressed up as public safety, aimed at helping big companies, and it’s destroying lands that took centuries to grow and can’t be replaced.
We need to stop Trump from harming America’s environment and undo his harmful decisions for good.

Under Weak Donald Trump, Trump is destroying everything in the USA for the sake of a dollar. Trump has to be stopped soon.
Donald Trump is Weak, and he hates the USA. Send Trump home or to prison; either will be good for all of America,
