Donald Trump’s leg swelling might mean something serious, not just a harmless condition, according to a former White House doctor. During a CNN interview on Wednesday, Jonathan Reiner, who once treated Dick Cheney, talked about Trump’s swollen legs, dark spots on his hands, and his tendency to fall asleep during meetings. Trump’s doctor has explained that the swelling is due to chronic venous insufficiency, which is common in older people.
Reiner said, “I hope he has that because that’s really a benign issue you see in older people.” However, he added, “If he didn’t have any swelling three months ago and now he has a lot of swelling in his legs, that’s a much bigger concern.”
Reiner warned that sudden leg swelling over three months could suggest heart or kidney problems.
Earlier photos showed obvious swelling, but Reiner noted the White House hasn’t confirmed when the swelling began.”None of these issues have been properly addressed,” he said.Still, what people have seen is worrying enough.
Reiner pointed out that the bruising on Trump’s hands doesn’t look like it came from shaking hands.
Also, Trump’s daytime sleepiness wasn’t mentioned in his last physical exam.Trump’s last checkup was in late May at Walter Reed National Medical Center. The White House called it a routine annual exam and said he was in “excellent health.” However, reports said he was examined by 22 specialists, a record for a presidential exam.
Reiner said, “Anyone who watches the president can see this.
It’s not normal, but it’s become normalized.’Oh, the president is just asleep.’ It’s not normal, and it really needs to be addressed.”
