Sen.John Fetterman (D-PA) recently caused concern among some Democrats when it was reported that he and another Pennsylvania Senator, David McCormick (RPA), created a shared fundraising group. The news first came from Politico, which mentioned that the group, named Common Ground PA, was officially registered with the Federal Election Commission on Monday. The FEC records showed that this group is linked to four separate fundraising PACs: Every Vote PAC, Pennsylvania Honor, Fetterman for PA, and Friends of Dave McCormick.
According to local media, Fetterman is listed as the main sponsor for Every Vote PAC, while McCormick is the main sponsor for Pennsylvania Honor.
The local political news site The Center Square contacted Mike DeVanney, McCormick’s campaign representative, who explained that the group is formed by donors who support both senators and want to help them.
The same site also talked to Christopher Nicholas, a well-known GOP political advisor in Pennsylvania, who mentioned that it’s unusual for two senators from different parties to work together like this.
He said that this shows a close relationship between the two senators in both policy and politics, and asked who the new group is trying to support.
Fetterman has had disagreements with many Democrats because of his support for Israel and his struggle against Democratic Socialists in his own party.
This has led to rumors that he might switch parties to the GOP, especially as the Senate race is very tight.
Jessica Tarlov, a liberal host on Fox News, commented on Fetterman’s recent partnership with McCormick and said, “So so bad.”
Rick Wilson, a long-time political strategist and opponent of Trump, added, “He’s gonna flip.”
