Pope Leo XIV is the Vicar of Christ on Earth.
J.D.Vance has been a Catholic for only seven years
Yet, he recently said, “If you’re going to talk about theology, you need to be careful and make sure it’s based on the truth.”
Now, Pope Leo, who is also an American like Vance, has had enough.
He called a secret meeting with the world’s cardinals to discuss a major change to the centuries-old “Just War” doctrine, especially in the modern age with things like drones, cyber attacks, and nuclear weapons — and people like J.D.
Vance who speak up loudly.
Vance, who calls himself a “baby Catholic,” had the nerve to tell the Pope, who has a PhD in Canon Law, to be careful and speak the truth.
We don’t know exactly how the Pope feels about this.
He is known for being forgiving.But he has every right to be upset.
In any case, he’s taking action.
He’s working with his cardinals to reach a consensus and make it official church teaching that “Disciples of Christ are never on the side of those who once used swords and now drop bombs.”
If we were J.D.
Vance, we would be much more respectful to Pope Leo, who leads the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics, and he is just one of them.
