The center’s general counsel sent out an official message today telling workers to start removing Trump’s name from all materials, like brochures, signs, and the main website.
They also said email signatures and letterhead should be changed right away.
This big decision came just a few days after a U.S. District Judge named Christopher Cooper said the Kennedy Center Board, which has some people who support Trump, didn’t have the right to put his name on the famous center.
This is the first time the board has openly said they will follow the judge’s order.
In his decision, Cooper criticized the board for not giving enough balanced information when they tried to close the center.
He also said that federal law clearly states the center is named after JFK and only JFK.
“Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,” Cooper wrote.
Besides telling people to remove Trump’s name, the memo also gives clear deadlines for when the changes need to be done.
This isn’t a vague promise to handle things later. It’s a direct plan for action.
This win against MAGA is especially meaningful because renaming the Kennedy Center, even though it seems small, is something Trump really cares about.
It’s part of his bigger effort to build and improve buildings in his name. He knows his presidency didn’t go well, and he’s trying hard to create a lasting memory of himself.
