Jennifer Welch, an outspoken progressive podcaster, criticized the current direction of CBS News and its leadership under Bari Weiss.
“Bari Weiss is a very unserious person who has a very serious job,” Welch said.
Welch pointed to a series of recent staffing and editorial changes at CBS, including the departure of Stephen Colbert and senior producers and executives, as evidence of what she described as a major transformation inside the network.
She also criticized Nick Bilton following comments attributed to him after a meeting with veteran journalists. “You chose to go work for these fascists, and now you are a fascist collaborator,” Welch said.
Responding to Bilton’s public letter about journalism and media standards, she added: “Do not fall for this jet stream of bullshit letter by Nick Bilton, sanctimoniously lecturing Americans about journalism when he goes to work for a network that is committing suicide every single day.”
Welch called for viewers to reconsider their support of CBS programming, saying: “Boycott every single thing on CBS News from the morning all the way through to the evening.”
She also referenced broader concerns about editorial decisions, including the handling of political content and internal changes to long-running programs such as 60 Minutes.
Welch praised veteran journalist Scott Pelley, saying he represented resistance to those changes: “Scott Pelley showed us the way by standing up and fighting these people tooth and nail.”
The remarks come amid ongoing debate over leadership, editorial direction, and audience trust at CBS News.
