A Republican-controlled Congress finally got things done for the first time in two years, passing a bill to stop Trump’s actions against Iran with a vote of 215 to 208. Only four Republicans voted with the Democrats.
Last week, Speaker Johnson managed to stop the vote from happening, but lawmakers are getting increasingly frustrated as Trump’s dishonest talks don’t lead anywhere and the costs to American people keep rising.
At the start of the week, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries from New York said, “All we need are a few Republicans to join us, and we can end this reckless and expensive war — a war that has cost American taxpayers more than $100 billion — which is huge — and has left our country weaker compared to Iran.”
He got those four Republicans: Thomas Massie, Warren Davidson, Tom Barrett, and Brian Fitzpatrick, who all supported the bill.
It’s worth mentioning that Donald Trump has personally insulted the wives of both Massie and Fitzpatrick — a clever move, Mr. President!
Now it’s up to the Senate to do what’s right, but they probably won’t — Democratic Senator John Fetterman is likely to cross over to support Israel instead of the United States — but unexpected things can happen.
The effects of this war are affecting everyone’s constituents as gas prices and the taxpayer burden keep going up.
Great job, Democrats!
Now it’s time for the Senate. Let’s end this illegal war for good!
