Donald Trump is once again claiming California elections are “rigged,” this time while bizarrely insisting that he would have won the state if “Jesus Christ had come down” to count the votes himself.
Trump made the remarks while discussing the upcoming Los Angeles mayoral race, where incumbent Karen Bass and 15 challengers are competing in the June 2 nonpartisan primary.
When asked about conservative reality TV personality Spencer Pratt entering the race, Trump offered mild praise before quickly pivoting into another rant about election fraud.
“I’d like to see him do well. He’s a character, I don’t know him,” Trump said. “I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well.”
Trump then immediately attacked California’s voting system, claiming Pratt would struggle because the state has a “rigged vote.”
“You have all the mail-in ballots, everything else,” Trump complained. “Very hard to win, because the elections are very dishonest.”
He then escalated things even further with one of the strangest comments of the day.
“If we had Jesus Christ come down and count the votes, I would have won California,” Trump declared. “Because I do great with Hispanics. But it’s a rigged vote.”
