According to a new report from The Daily Mail, Bondi “pleaded” with Trump to let her stay in her job during a “heated argument” at the White House. Trump told her she was being fired right before his speech about Iran from yesterday. When she found out, she started “begging” for forgiveness, but Trump “stayed strong” and didn’t change his mind.
A source told the Mail that Bondi was “upset” and “tried to convince” Trump to reconsider.
The report says Trump fired Bondi partly because he believed she gave information to Democratic Congressman and current California gubernatorial candidate Eric Swalwell about the FBI’s plans to release documents related to his past relationship with an alleged Chinese spy.
This is another example of Trump using the Justice Department to target a political opponent.
The source said, “She was involved in those matters.
The White House wasn’t happy she was involved because of her personal friendship with Swalwell.” The Mail didn’t provide more details about the personal relationship, but it reported that Bondi and Swalwell supposedly have a “friendly relationship.” It’s also worth noting that Swalwell has publicly criticized Bondi before.
This situation happened during the ongoing fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Bondi acted like a loyal MAGA supporter and helped in the cover-up, but Trump only values loyalty until he no longer needs someone. Then he turns on them.
This firing is Trump trying to separate himself from the MAGA backlash against Bondi over Epstein.
But of course, her replacement, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, will face the same issues. His boss will want him to hide Epstein documents, while the MAGA group wants them released. Pressure will build up until Trump needs another scapegoat. When that happens, Blanche will beg for his job too, and he’ll be tossed aside like old trash.
