Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Steve Anderson is giving President Trump a big scare after his top counterterrorism official, Joe Kent, stepped down over the war in Iran. Anderson says many more officials might follow suit.
Anderson said the departure of Joe Kent, who was the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, is very important.
He talked about how hard it must have been for Kent to make this decision. Kent is someone who strongly supports the Trump movement, and his resignation is a major hit to the president. Anderson praised Kent for having the courage to take this stand.
Kent announced his resignation today in a letter to Trump.
In the letter, he said he can’t support the war in Iran because he believes Iran isn’t an immediate threat to the U.S. He added that the war was started in support of Israel and its American supporters. Kent also said he can’t back sending more people to fight and die in a war that doesn’t help the American people or justify the loss of lives.
Though Anderson doesn’t agree with Kent’s political views, especially since Kent is part of the MAGA group, he respects Kent’s service and the decision he made.
Anderson mentioned that Kent lost his wife in a suicide bombing in Syria and that his actions show great courage. He said he’s very proud that Kent chose to take this stand.
Kent is a former Army Ranger and CIA officer.
Anderson believes that Kent’s resignation is a big blow to Trump’s team and hopes it will lead to more resignations. He said the war in Iran is getting worse and doesn’t serve America’s interests.
We hope Anderson’s hope comes true.
More of Trump’s officials should resign in protest because this war is a major disaster. Trump is causing harm to people everywhere in an illegal war that doesn’t make America safer or better. Staying quiet or continuing to work for this president could be seen as a serious crime.
