Kim, who once worked on Obama’s U.S. National Security Council, said the Tomahawk missile strike that killed many men, women, and children in Minab, Iran, probably happened because of budget cuts under Trump’s administration. Specifically, Hegseth cut funding and staff at the Civilian Protection Center, a Pentagon program meant to help reduce harm to civilians during military actions. In his “anti-woke” view, killing innocent people is seen as making you tougher and more masculine. These cuts are especially hard to accept when you consider how much the Defense Department’s budget has grown under Trump. We have the money to support this program, but Hegseth didn’t like it.
During a CNN appearance, Kim mentioned that the missile hit a school partly because it was close to an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps base.
Some officials think the attack might have happened due to old or incorrect data.
Kim said, “The problem is Secretary Hegseth decided to eliminate this office last year and cut staff drastically, without implementing the needed budget.”
He continued, “This fault is directly on President Trump and Secretary Hegseth.
They clearly gave the orders on how to do the risk analysis. Without this office, it shows how much this administration has ignored the protection of civilians.”
He added, “Now we are dealing with one of the worst civilian losses at the hands of Americans in decades.”
This tragedy is on Hegseth’s hands.
He needs to be investigated for negligence, removed from office, and held accountable for war crimes.
