Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys who was convicted and served time for plotting to overturn the government during the January 6 Capitol attack, shared a photo of himself smiling in sunglasses next to Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a summit called the “Shield of the Americas” hosted by Trump at his Doral golf course.
In the caption, Tarrio wrote: “With @SecRubio at the Shield of the Americas summit.
By far the [best of] President Trump’s choices for his cabinet. Proud of this Cuban!”
This is the same Tarrio who was convicted of seditious conspiracy and later pardoned by Trump, allowing him to be free and now attend an official international security meeting as if he were part of the delegation.
Rubio, a Cuban-American senator from Florida who became part of the cabinet, is smiling beside the former leader of a group the Justice Department once called a “street gang” that planned violence to keep Trump in power.
The image is really bad: a man who was pardoned for attempting to overthrow the government is getting VIP treatment and photo opportunities with the Secretary of State at a Latin American summit, while Trump talks nonsense about interpreters and refuses to learn Spanish.
Tarrio waves the anti-communist flag, but his Proud Boys attacked the Capitol to harm democracy.
So the “law and order” MAGA administration is bringing a convicted felon who tried to overthrow the government into high-level events.
Trumpworld is becoming more and more like a big criminal group, and yet they keep getting away with it all.
If the sight of Enrique Tarrio at an official government event and hanging out with the secretary of state makes you wonder how we got to this point.
