Washington — The House Oversight Committee released video from last week’s meetings with former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as part of their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
Hillary Clinton gave her testimony on Thursday, and Bill Clinton appeared before the committee the next day.
The video of Bill Clinton’s testimony is four hours and 33 minutes long, while Hillary’s is four hours and 35 minutes.
The meetings happened in private in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clintons are from.
Rep. James Comer, the Republican leader of the committee, called it a long process to get the couple to talk about what they knew about Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is in jail for sex trafficking.
The Clintons have said they didn’t know anything about Epstein or Maxwell’s crimes.
Both of them gave their opening statements to the committee before their testimony.
Hillary Clinton said in her statement that she “had no idea about their criminal activities.
I don’t remember ever meeting Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, homes, or offices. I have nothing more to say about that.”
She accused the committee of acting in a way that “is meant to protect one political party and one public official, instead of finding the truth and justice for the victims and survivors,” which she connected to Republicans and President Trump.
She claimed the committee was forcing her to testify even though she had no information that would help the investigation, in an attempt to shift attention away from Trump’s actions and hide them from public scrutiny.
Bill Clinton said he “had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing.”
He added, “No matter how many photos you show me, I have two things that matter more than your interpretation of those 20-year-old photos.
I know what I saw, and more importantly, what I didn’t see. I know what I did, and more importantly, what I didn’t do. I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong,” in his statement.
The transcripts of the meetings have not been made public yet.
