President Donald Trump posted several memes on social media on Monday afternoon. The memes included images of “traitor” ex-President Barack Obama bowing before Iran’s Ayatollah and outgoing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell falling into a dumpster.
The commander-in-chief shared pictures of his political opponents on Truth Social.
His first post was a three-part meme showing a triumphant Trump raising his fist, alongside a kneeling ex-President Joe Biden wearing a mask and Obama bowing. The image had “LEADERS LEAD” above Trump, “COWARDS KNEEL” under Biden, and “TRAITORS BOW” under Obama.
Trump’s post clearly refers to his past criticism of the nuclear deal made by the Obama Administration with Iran.
Last month, he said, “If I didn’t terminate Obama’s horrible deal, you would have had a nuclear war four years ago. You would have had nuclear holocaust.”
Seven minutes later, Trump posted a meme about Powell, whom he has called “Too Late” and has repeatedly mocked for not acting quickly enough to lower interest rates.
The post featured an AI-generated image of Powell being dropped into a giant dumpster. He captioned the image, “‘Too Late’ is a DISASTER for America! Interest Rates too high!”
Beyond criticizing Powell on interest rates, Trump also took issue with the cost of the multi-year renovation of the Fed building.
Last year, Trump said he planned to sue Powell over the expense, which exceeded $4 billion—more than $1.5 billion over the original estimate. The Justice Department launched a criminal investigation into Powell shortly after. Powell claimed he was being targeted as a “consequence” for not following the president’s orders to cut rates.
The DOJ dropped the investigation last week, but U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said on Sunday she had not entirely closed the case on further investigating Powell.
