“I think he’s a nice guy!” Trump replied.
“I mean, I did.He was here.Yeah.We had a good meeting.It was, you know, look—”
“He’s harsh on you,” Sherman interrupted.
“He says, I mean—”
“Well, he’s harsh because I’m harsh on him, you know,” Trump claimed.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t be so harsh.I’ve said bad things about him.”
Jeffries has called Trump “the dumbest president ever,” a “wannabe dictator,” a “racial arsonist,” and the “Grand Wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” who is carrying out an “unconstitutional assault on the American way of life.” Trump has called Jeffries a “low I.Q.
individual,” a specific insult he often uses against people of color.
“Could you do business with him, you think?” Sherman asked.
“Yeah, I think so,” Trump said.
“Look, the people who are harsh on me, I’m harsh on them.It’s part of the world.You cover it very well.You cover specifically Congress.You see a strange group of people.But I’d probably get along with him very well.I got, you know, I had, I met him essentially once.I think I’d probably get along with him very well.”
There is no world in which Trump can “do business” with a Speaker Jeffries because he has no legislative agenda to push beyond lining his own pockets, waging an illegal war on behalf of Israel, and covering up his role in the Epstein scandal.
Democrats are going to put a stop to all of it.
Jeffries has promised that Democrats will deliver “accountability” when they retake Congress, which means using subpoena power to uncover the full scope of Trump’s criminal corruption.
He also has not ruled out impeachment.
These remarks are a desperate attempt on Trump’s part to ingratiate himself to Jeffries before he seizes the gavel.
Since he himself is so susceptible to manipulation through flattery, Trump assumes everyone is.It won’t work.
