The Democratic effort to win back control of Congress from Speaker Mike Johnson and his group of supporters who strongly support Trump received a big boost this morning. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added eight more candidates to its “Red to Blue” program, which focuses on the most at-risk Republican seats and the most likely to change hands.
DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene said, “As the American people reject the harmful and expensive plans of House Republicans, House Democrats have the momentum to take back the majority.”
“These candidates will win because they are genuine, independent leaders who are connected to their communities.
They show they have the ability to win and to work for families who are working hard,” she added.
The original list of Red to Blue candidates included twelve Democrats running in competitive races nationwide.
Adding eight more brings the total to twenty, showing that Democratic leaders are very confident a wave of blue victories is coming and that the resulting majority could be significant.
The new candidates are: Marlene Galán-Woods in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, Jasmeet Bains in California’s 22nd District, Jessica Killin in Colorado’s 5th District, Joe Baldacci in Maine’s 2nd District, Bob Harvie in Pennsylvania’s 1st District, Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania’s 7th District, Bobby Pulido in Texas’ 15th District, and Johnny Garcia in Texas’ 35th District.
There is a real chance to change control of the House and finally put a stop to Trump’s chaotic rule this November.
But it won’t be easy. Trump has made it clear he will do anything to help his side, so we need to win by a large enough margin to prevent his usual tricks.
